How We Work
We take a collaborative approach with artists, researchers and community organisers to develop projects reflecting our contemporary landscapes and discourse.
We have been working with Universities, local governments, cultural partners and migrant-led organisations to produce research for CEE artist migrants in the UK, while establishing a new way of working with artists in residence to showcase this research and engage with communities. We want to contribute to and to develop the advocacy that demonstrates the value and contribution CEE migrants make to England.
We have unfolded a method of presenting artistic research, from the intersection between art & community. We use creative practices to build community participation in the research. Our initiative in researching underrepresentation of CEE art in the UK will continue in partnership with the University of Birmingham and Diversity Arts London. The University of Birmingham has a fully funded PHD study on the subject in partnership with Centrala.
We have developed and continue developing National and International collaborations, with commissions across Central and Eastern Europe and beyond. We present progressive, radical and insightful work from Vanguards of Art across Eastern Europe and also support CEE emerging artists.
Our programme is informed by our communities, Locally, Nationally and Internationally. We have started the first CEE Creatives Network, encouraging collaboration and giving a platform for CEE creatives to showcase their work and voice.
We strive in promoting socially engaged art, activism and the educational role of artistic practices within our society.
