Join LUNA as they present an artist’s talk and archival photography workshop at Centrala, as part of the launch of their first print exhibition on Saturday 2nd May.
1 – 2pm: Lisel Haas and Grete Bermbach Archive Workshop – The Importance of Archives with Claire Hewitt and Jaskirt Dhaliwal-Boora, supported by Bertz Associates.
2 – 3pm: Panel Event – Being a Woman in Photography Today. A panel talk including Carole Evans (POST Photo Collective founder) , Jamella Ukaegbu (UK Black Female Photography Community director), Nicola Shipley (GRAIN projects), Safa Basharat Malik (LUNA open call winner) and chaired by Rachel Segal Hamilton .
Both events are free and open to all.
Luna (formerly Women in Photo Birmingham) are a grassroots network for women, women-identifying and non-binary photographers in Birmingham and the West Midlands. They offer a supportive space to share work, build creative confidence, collaborate with peers and develop skills. They aim to inspire connection with Birmingham via the medium of photography, amplifying underrepresented stories and voices of women in our city and wider region. Award-winning photographer Jaskirt Dhaliwal-Boora founded Luna in 2023, and it has since evolved into a community with a shared leadership committee joining Jaskirt at the helm in 2025.
