Make your own Mărțișor workshop

Every year, on March the 1st, Romanians buy silky red-white threads (șnur) tied into a bow to which a small trinket is attached and offer them to their (female) family members, friends and colleagues to show friendship, respect or admiration. Ladies receiving them usually wear them as brooches pinned to their tops.

The origins of this tradition are still debated with some historians tracing is as early as 8,000 years ago.

Join us for a workshop in which we will talk about this tradition and it’s significance with our partners DOR – Romanian Diaspora and show you how you can make your own Mărțișor.

We will explore in a sustainable manner how this tradition has evolved over time with the help of Irina, the designer and founder behind Minunat by Irina

This event is organised in partnership with DOR -Romanian Diaspora and it’s brought to you by Centrala Connecting Communities.
