Mark Sanders/Chris Sharkey

‘The Orchid and The Wasp’ is the 2019 album from Mark Sanders and Chris Sharkey. The album marked the beginning of a collaboration between the 2 musicians that continued with 2020’s ‘Lines of Flight’ described by Jazzwise as ‘…an engrossing listen, an expansive sound collage…ideas are exchanged and adapted at lighting speed…. Sharkey and Sanders seem to think as one.’
The music, initially inspired by the writing of Mark Fisher and Gilles Delueuze / Felix Guattari is an immersive, improvisatory experience where acoustic and digital sound collide in unexpected ways.

Bruce Coates/Sarah Farmer/Trevor Lines/Lee Allatson
Bruce Coates – saxophones
Sarah Farmer – violin
Trevor Lines – bass
Lee Allatson – drums/percussion

A new group that brings together improvisers with a wealth of experience in varied musical disciplines including folk, ska and jazz united by a desire to create freely improvised music. Individually the members of the group have worked with each other in a variety of different contexts and combinations but this is the first time that they have performed together as a quartet.
