For fans of Chelsea Wolfe, Emma Ruth Rundle, Anna von Hausswolff etc… we bring you kariti who’s bringing her unique brand of dark atmospheric folk infused with ambient sounds, guitar drones, synths and haunting gothic piano melodies to the UK and Birmingham for the first time.. kariti (карити) – ‘to mourn the dead’ in church Slavonic – is a Russian-born poet, composer and multi-instrumentalist based in Italy. kariti’s latest offering ‘Dheghom’, released in February 2024 by the forward-thinking Dutch label Lay Bare Recordings (Frayle, Thief (ex-Botanist), Yawning Man) sees a notable development in sound, songwriting and instrumentation: apart from electirc guitars, kariti plays various synthesizers and the analogue piano, the record welcomes multiple contributions of Marco (the leader of the sludge outfit Grime and the voice on Simian Steel (members of Fistula and ex-Iron Monkey) on guitar/noise, who will be joining her live on part of the set and a haunting duet with Dorthia Cottrell (Windhand).
