Dance + Percussion: Petra Haller and Mark Sanders plus Chris Mapp solo bass
This new project presents a collaboration between independent dance artist and tap dancer Petra Haller and drummer/percussionist Mark SandersThey will be exploring the space of the upstairs gallery at Centrala Space to create a very special dance and percussion event. There will also be a solo performance by Chris Mapp on electric bass.
Petra has been working in contemporary dance and tap dance for many years, but was introduced to free improvisation by vocalist Cleveland Watkiss, and found herself immediately at home. She is committed to the history and legacy of boh tap and contemporary dance, but enthusiastic about the possibilities of collaboration with other art forms and instrumentalists. This is where Mark fits in; he is without doubt one of the world's leading drummers and percussionists. As well as his playing in improvised music contexts, he has had extensive experience in dance and theatre productions.
Both Petra and Mark know each other's work and are very keen to perform together. This special event in the wonderful space at Centrala will be their first performance together.
