Join us for an exciting evening of art, migration, and community at CEE Us! Centrala
Every third Wednesday, our monthly CEE Us! event gathers migrants, creatives, and community leaders to celebrate cultural diversity and tackle key issues affecting Central and Eastern European migrants in the UK. This month, we are excited to collaborate with Baan Noorg Collective from Thailand, bringing together artists and migrants for an evening of exploration, creativity, and connection.
Together with Baan Noorg’s workshop ‘Appointment,’ we’ll explore themes like:
- Migration Journeys and Identity: Through personal stories from both Central and Eastern European migrants and Baan Noorg artists, we’ll dive into the deeply impactful experiences of migration. These stories will set the stage for a rich discussion on how migration shapes identity, both personally and artistically.
- Art as Empowerment: The workshop led by Jiandyin (Jiradej Meemalai and Pornpilai Meemalai) will explore how art can become a platform for migrant voices. Participants will engage in a performance art piece where they’ll reflect on their unique skills and experiences, transforming them into tools for survival and community support. This workshop creates a space for self-expression while fostering a collective experience.
- Building Inclusive Communities: Both Baan Noorg and CEEUS Network will discuss how creative communities can provide a sense of belonging and support for migrants. We’ll examine how networks like CEEUS and artistic collaborations like Baan Noorg’s On Adaptation project can bridge cultural gaps, creating spaces of solidarity and empowerment.
- Challenges and Possibilities in Creative Industries: We’ll also touch on the struggles faced by migrants in the arts, offering insight into how both CEEUS and Baan Noorg are working to create opportunities for migrant artists to thrive in often-challenging environments.
- Collaborative Futures: Finally, the event will look forward to future collaborations between migrant artists and communities, exploring how collective efforts can lead to wider cultural and social impact.
