We are excited to announce that Centrala has been selected as a Deep Engagement Partner for the Deep Engagement Partner Programme, funded by Birmingham City Council Public Health. This two-year project will focus on improving health and well-being within Birmingham’s Polish community by addressing health inequalities and ensuring that their needs are understood and met.

The programme aims to improve the understanding of health requirements across Birmingham’s diverse communities. As a Deep Engagement Partner, Centrala will work closely with the Polish community to identify health needs, map community assets, and co-create solutions for better health outcomes.

What will happen during this project:

  • Understanding Health Inequalities: We will identify and summarise the physical, mental, and lifestyle-related health challenges affecting the Polish community in Birmingham, both locally and nationally. This will involve examining behavioural and wider determinants of health, aligning with Birmingham’s Health and Wellbeing Strategy 2022-2030.
  • Engaging with the Community: We will engage with local residents, health professionals, and community champions to discuss findings, share information, and address any service gaps.
  • Focus Groups & Collaboration: Four focus groups will be delivered annually in collaboration with an academic partner to collect valuable insights and produce actionable reports.
  • Co-Creating Health Solutions: Working with community leaders and champions, we will co-create one health project per year to tackle identified health inequalities and improve service access.

Through this partnership, we aim to empower the community by providing key health information in Polish, offering a voice to those who are often underserved. This initiative will also work to strengthen local connections between residents, health services, and community leaders, driving meaningful change.
