This event follows the recently executed ‘Digital Diaspora’ exhibition project in partnership with Studio 44, Stockholm and Centrala, Birmingham and curated by Short Circuit. Based on the topics of unity and division the collaboration laid particular emphasis on Europe as its arrival marked 30 years since the overthrow of Communist regimes. Providing an opportunity to reflect on the collapse of the Eastern Bloc and the unity of Europe, it contrastingly took place during the Brexit period and other independence movements. This programme of film screenings directly responds to the themes addressed within the wider exhibition project.
Centrala is a multifunctional art space in Birmingham run by the Polish Expats Association, a non-profit organisation presenting art from Central and Eastern Europe and the UK.
Short Circuit is an international platform for collaborative practices in digital art and moving image, developed and directed by Curator and Producer, Aly Grimes.
