The launch of the magazine – Not.Fot. – the Photo Notebook of Władysław Hasior published by Tatra Museum in Zakopane! (Muzeum Tatrzanskie w Zakopanem)
NOT.FOT. is a publication in the form of the magazine devoted to a single work: Władysław Hasior’s Photo Notebook.
It is made up of twenty thousand slides, made over the course of nearly thirty years and arranged by the artist into thematic series.
The magazine is published periodically and invites an international group of curators, art historians and artists to discuss, present and share thoughts on this phenomenal work of art.
The idea revolves around Photo Notebook that highlights new educational aspects of artist’s practice. Articles and short essays put this work in a broader artistic context, presenting its exceptional character amalgamated with artistic tendencies. By inviting artists to create this publication, we would like to create a platform for an exchange of the ideas through the prism of this unique archive documenting Polish visual culture with its vernacular aspects in the last quarter of 20th century. The Tatra Museum published six issues of the magazine so far, with the unique collection preserved in the form of diapositives.
Presentation/Magazine Launch, followed by a screening of a documentary interview with Hasior and a Q&A with the audience.
Speakers:
Władysław Hasior (1928-1999) was one of the foremost Polish artists of the postwar era, and he maintained strong bonds with the Podhale region throughout his life.
