Toronto-based electronic duo LAL perform in Birmingham as part of their first European tour.
Rosina Kazi and Nicholas Murray have developed a sound that integrates their South Asian and West Indian roots to create a dynamic range of diasporic rhythms. Mixing melancholic vocals with jazz and hip-hop influences, downtempo grooves, soul and house LAL create a fresh and eclectic electronic sound. Their latest album ‘Find Safety’ solidifies LAL’s evolution: peace, power and politics through creative conversation, action and inevitably dance. Socially conscious politics are the band’s foundation. Social justice and societal injustices provide the impetus for lyrics that cut deep as pure poetry.
Queer DJ sets from Mx No-Shade Wade, Elliott Barnicle and Pippi Shortsleeves & Treva warm up the space and keep us partying after the performance.
