Adam Stafford is a musician from Falkirk, Scotland. He blends a capella experimentalism with an unusual sway for melodic, hook-laden pop choruses to create something very unique. Stafford is known for his intense live performances which incorporate soul-pop, post-punk and with layering of vocal loops, textural soundscapes to dizzying effect. Next years run of shows will be a rare opportunity to catch Adam with a bassist/keyboardist player accompanying him. His shows in 2018 will be in support of a newly completed double album of Neo-Classical compositions and avant-garde instrumentals entitled ‘Fire Behind the Curtain’, which was released via Song, by Toad on 4th May 2018.
Recorded in the Song, by Toad HQ, The Happiness Hotel, the latest addition to the Adam Stafford opus is Fire Behind the Curtain. The neoclassical L.P. is a testament of hope in his battle against depression. It was written over an 8-year period and inspired by Adam’s love of Meredith Monk, Michael Gordon and US Minimalism. Adam gives a preview of his latest avant-garde musical expedition: “Choirs yelp and screech, beatboxing courses through cosmic k-holes and guitars sound like saxophones trapped deep in the wasp-machine.”
