University of Docs not Cops warmly invites you to join us to celebrate art, community, compassion and belonging!
Over the last few years the reception towards migrants in the UK has become increasingly hostile, with 2024 being the deadliest year for people crossing the Channel. Sadly, inhumane attacks continue to take place across the country towards sanctuaries and accommodation. This hostility extends further than such heinous explicit acts. We’ve seen migrant accommodation become more unliveable as well as malicious policy changes in the last 4 years, all undermining fundamental human rights.
Docs not Cops is a university activism group formed of medical students who advocate for migrant rights in the NHS and access to healthcare for everyone. We have created the ‘Messages of Hope’ campaign, collecting art and writings from the public, NHS workers and students, seeking to distribute messages of hope, welcome and compassion to dispel a narrative of hatred and antipathy. We hope this campaign encourages a hospitable environment and promotes a sense of belonging for those who are forced to leave home and rebuild elsewhere.
We hope to see you there on 07/01/25 for our opening night to share this wonderful space and celebrate live music!
