Women-only workshop for Afghan, Syrian and other women to share stories, explore skills and aspirations, with child-friendly activities.
Join us for a relaxed, friendly, women-only workshop designed to bring women together in a safe and supportive space to connect, create, and share.
This session is especially welcoming to Afghan and Syrian women resettled in the UK, but all women are very welcome to join and participate. It’s a chance to spend quality time together, enjoy creative activities, and have open, meaningful conversations in a comfortable and informal setting.
Through gentle storytelling, discussion, and art-based activities, women will be invited to reflect on:
Their skills, experience, and work before coming to the UK
Their current lives and aspirations
The challenges they face in education, work, and career progression
We will explore shared experiences such as:
Non-recognition of overseas qualifications
Language barriers
Caring responsibilities
Lack of clear and accessible information about opportunities
No pressure to speak – you can share as much or as little as you like. Interpretation support will be available to make sure everyone feels included :)
Children Welcome!
This workshop is child-friendly. While women take part in the session, children can enjoy a parallel creative activity table, where they’ll be encouraged to explore their dreams, interests, and what they would like to be when they grow up through fun art activities.

Facilitated by:
Monika A. Lenard community facilitator with 20+ years’ experience working alongside women and families in multicultural settings. Monika’s practice centres on safety, dignity, and voice, helping participants tell their stories through accessible arts, food, and practical skill‑sharing. Based in Redditch, she collaborates with grassroots groups to build confidence and community belonging.
