Join us for the performance of The Migrating Child by JP1, a new work commissioned by Centrala, at Teatr Komuna Waszawa.
We warmly invite you to an evening with JP1 — a music-performance duo formed by Jana Shostak and Piotr Adamski, working at the intersection of sound, voice, and performative gesture. JP1 is a “musical love gesture” for bass guitar and two whispered voices — intimate, minimal, and quietly subversive, where music becomes a tool for storytelling, tension, and connection.
The programme will include approximately 7 pieces (total duration: around 1 hour), including a new work developed in collaboration with Centrala as part of the I-Claim project.
One of the key moments of the evening will be The Migrating Child — a poetic transformation of data drawn from a research report developed within the I-Claim project. The piece will be performed in collaboration with Babula (Hanna Kanavalava) and her three grandchildren — political refugees from Belarus.
This event takes place in the context of I-Claim, an international research and arts-based project investigating the living and working conditions of irregularised migrant households in Europe, with a focus on systemic violence, legal uncertainty, and labour precarity. In Poland, the research was conducted by Aleksandra Grzymała-Kazłowska and Kamil Matuszczyk at the University of Warsaw.
