Reflecting on the ‘Homes for Ukraine’ Report

Reflecting on the ‘Homes for Ukraine Report launch and commemoration of 2 year anniversary of full scale invasion of Ukraine

Date: 15 March 2024

Time: 2-5 PM

Location: Centrala, Unit 4 Minerva Works, 158 Fazeley St, Birmingham B5 5RT

Join us at Centrala for a launch of a report looking at the implementation of the Homes for Ukraine scheme that we have prepared with Birmingham City Council and the University of Birmingham. The report will reflect on the scheme and challenges it faced, the views of Ukrainian guests and their hosts, and provide future recommendations.

This special event will also commemorate a pivotal moment: the two-year anniversary of the onset of the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

The event will consist of the presentation of the report, panel discussion and commemoration with live music performance by Nadejda Postolatii (voice) and Irina Chagunava (piano).

Hear from Alicja Kaczmarek, Director of Centrala, co-authors of the report from the University of Birmingham, Professor Sara Jones and Dr Natalia Kogut, and from  Dr Roch Dunin-WÄ…sowicz from  UCL Social Research Institute. Together they will offer a deep dive into the real-world implications of refugee aid and community support.

This event is aimed to reflect on and discuss the future of resettlement schemes in the UK with policymakers, refugee and migrant organisations, researchers, community organisations, activists, volunteers and anyone interested in this topic.

Wine, soft drinks and nibbles will be provided
