QUARTERED

RBC percussionists and stage managers join forces at Centrala for their annual showcase of cutting-edge repertoire for percussion and multimedia. In a programme of minimalist music spanning the lifetime of the genre, virtuosic playing is elevated to another level by immersive lighting, visuals and electronics.

Experimental musician and composer Ryan Lott (founding member of the hugely successful post-rock band Son Lux, with whom he composed the Oscar-nominated score to A24’s Everything Everywhere All at Once) is featured here in the first UK performance of Quartered – his installation for four percussionists flexing and contracting identical material to create disorienting irrational rhythms in four dimensions. Along with other ultra-modern works from Mathis Saunier, Andy Akiho and Vratislav Klemera, the ensemble present exploded multimedia versions of works from giants of minimalism Julius Eastman, Steve Reich and Meredith Monk.
