Immerse yourself in the rich and colourful world of Polish folklore with Wieśniacy, one of the oldest and most cherished Polish folk dance groups in the UK. On Saturday, 28th September 2024, from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM, Wieśniacy will take the stage at Centrala to celebrate their 75th anniversary with a lively showcase of traditional Polish music, dance, and fashion.
Founded in 1949 by Polish immigrants displaced after World War II, Wieśniacy has been a cornerstone of the Polish community in Birmingham for over seven decades. The group continues to bring Polish customs to life through vibrant performances, helping bridge cultural understanding between Poles and Brits. Together with its younger troupe Szarotka, the ensemble boasts around 40 members ranging in age from 9 to 50+, representing both UK-born individuals of Polish heritage and those from diverse backgrounds with a passion for Polish culture.
At this special event, attendees can expect an array of exciting activities:
