Polish Culture Profile Training

Do you work in housing, social care, health, education, domestic abuse support, advice services, or other community support roles and regularly engage with the Polish community in Birmingham?

This unique Cultural Intelligence Training is designed to support professionals across the support sector in building stronger, more informed relationships with one of the city’s largest migrant communities.

Centrala Space is a migrant-led organisation working at the intersection of culture, wellbeing, and social change. We are currently leading work to address health inequalities affecting the Polish community in Birmingham and have recently published a report titled “Central and Eastern European Communities in Birmingham and Mental Health Support.” Our findings highlight a significant need for culturally informed approaches across a wide range of public and community services.

During the session, participants will explore key topics such as communication styles, family dynamics, migration experiences, and cultural values that shape attitudes toward health, mental wellbeing, authority, and support services. You will also gain a clearer understanding of the barriers Polish migrants may face when accessing housing, healthcare, social care, education, and other support systems, as well as the root causes of common misunderstandings.

Most importantly, you will leave with practical strategies to build trust, improve communication, and provide more inclusive and effective support.

This training is ideal for professionals working in:

  • Housing and homelessness services
  • Domestic abuse and safeguarding services
  • Health and mental health services
