Little Amal is the giant puppet at the heart of The Walk, travelling 8,000 km in support of refugees. In 2021, the 3.5 metre-tall living artwork of a young Syrian refugee child will walk across Turkey, Greece, Italy, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and the UK to focus attention on the urgent needs of young refugees.
We will welcome Amal on the 28th of October, 3PM at the Central Square in Erdington, where we will also present the newest interactive work by Foka Wolf, commissioned by Centrala.
Foka Wolf designed and created a Kaleidoscope, celebrating diverse communities of Erdington area. Kaleidoscope represents the fun of togetherness. Something that shows the beauty of everyone being mixed up in a wonderful pattern. The device is called WE ARE ONE. No borders, no divides – many cultures in one people – WE ARE ONE. Photos used in the piece were taken during one of Centrala engaging workshops in Erdington. The artist has added a rotating disc on which people can add their own photos.
On the day of the event, the piece will be free for the visitors to see, experience and play with.
Join us on the 28th October, 3PM, 138 High St, Birmingham B23 6RS.
