The trio of musicians that make up Last Dream of the Morningare absolutely central to the British free scene. John Butcher (saxophone), John Edwards (bass), and Mark Sanders(drums) deliver everything you would expect from improvisers of their calibre – powerful, captivating music with layers of intensity. While all three have played Fizzle recently, it is a real treat to have the full trio on the programme.
Regulars on the Birmingham scene will be familiar with pianist Steve Tromans and his deeply thoughtful musical projects which traverse wide-ranging philosophical themes. Canto Libre for Victor Jara is a birthday celebration of the Chilean artist and activist after whom it is named, featuring Fiona Troon(bassoon), Maja Pluta (violin), and Sarah Farmer (violin).
Fizzle & TDE Promotions are partner organisations that promote freely improvised and experimental music in and around Birmingham. They put on regular gigs in venues around the city which feature a wide variety of local, national, and international improvisers. In addition to running gigs, they provide development opportunities for local bands and musicians at all stages of their careers.
