Saxophonist Paul Dunmall is a towering figure in improvised music. His Coltrane-esque tone and wide-ranging musical palette always make for a thrilling listen. He is also one of the most ardent champions of young musicians breaking through on the Birmingham scene. This performance will see him joined by two such musicians – bassist Josh Vadiveloo and drummer Kai Cheuransy – whose talents Dunmall has rightly recognised.
Supporting the trio will be another young musician whose talents we are delighted to showcase – Rebecca Wing. An alto saxophonist, vocalist, and composer with creative energy to spare, Wing’s music can be tender or frenetic, but always filled with expressive qualities.
