On 4th October, Centrala will host the opening of Nela Milic’s residency, the final in the 2024 Hybrid Landscapes project. The event will feature two installations—Text Illumination and Wrappery —offering a rare opportunity to explore the intersection of conflict, memory, and identity.
Milic will lead a guided tour of her installations, beginning with Text Illumination, which examines how societies recover after conflict. Using light and text, the installation prompts reflection on reconciliation and the rebuilding of trust. Alongside this, Wrappery—a continuation of Milic’s work at the Croatia Pavilion at the Venice Biennale—tackles the challenge of preserving fleeting memories through various formats and materials.
Milic’s work touches on universal themes of healing, heritage, and how communities rebuild in the face of division. Text Illumination addresses reconciliation, a theme relevant to both global conflicts and local struggles, while Wrappery explores memory preservation in an interactive format.
