Join us for a unique and creative Pisanki Workshop & Community Meetup, where we’ll celebrate Easter traditions, creativity, and connection! This event is open to everyone—whether you have Central and Eastern European roots, come from another migrant background, or simply love discovering new cultural traditions, we invite you to take part in this special experience.
Pisanki are beautifully decorated Easter eggs, a cherished tradition in Poland and many other countries, symbolizing new life, hope, and the arrival of spring. At this workshop, you’ll learn about the history behind this tradition and try your hand at decorating your own eggs using different techniques. One of the most fascinating methods we’ll explore is the batik technique, the oldest way of decorating Pisanki, which involves applying hot beeswax to an eggshell using a pin or stylus, then dipping the egg into a cool dye solution to create intricate patterns. In addition to batik, we’ll introduce other decorative methods, ensuring that everyone—regardless of experience—can take part and create something unique.
We want this to be more than just a workshop—it’s an opportunity to come together, connect, and share traditions. Whether you celebrate Easter or not, we’d love to hear about your own springtime and holiday customs while we paint, chat, and enjoy each other’s company. To make the experience even more special, we’ll also be serving traditional Easter treats, bringing a taste of this beautiful celebration to everyone who joins.
