MEET OUR SPEAKERS:
KAMI NAGLIK grew up in post-communist Poland from where she moved to Spain and then the UK, in pursuit of education and professional career. She joined Sotheby’s Valuations Department in 2011, having previously interned at Sotheby’s Madrid and completed a cataloguer traineeship in Christie’s Old Master Paintings Department. As a Deputy Director at Sotheby’s she travelled extensively and played an integral role in client management in Continental Europe and Middle East. She worked closely with some of the world’s top art owners, both individuals as well as family trusts/foundations/museums/banks etc., to oversee a number of multi-category, high profile collections. In July 2018 Kami moved to the TATE to take on the role of Collection Development Manager.
Kami holds two MAs (in History of Art and Linguistics) and speaks 5 languages, native Polish, English, Spanish, Portuguese and Russian. Her superpowers include broad art historical expertise in fine art, knowledge of art market and understanding of eccentric art collectors. Her interests span visual and performing arts, sports, social entrepreneurship as well as topical technology innovation and all the other fascinating 21st century/hipster/millennials’ initiatives.
AGNIESZKA SZCZOTKA is an artist based in London, who works across a variety of mediums. She is currently undertaking a postgraduate diploma at Royal Academy Schools. She holds sculpture degree from Camberwell College of Arts. She was a co-founder of Amatorska – an exhibition space and curatorial project run in her flat.
MAREK WOLYNSKI is a nomadic curator, project coordinator, and art writer. Advocating for sensory experiences, he develops immersive and participatory shows inviting audiences to actively engage with artworks. Marek has staged group and solo exhibitions and projects at Verbeke Foundation in Belgium, Art Rotterdam, European Parliament in Brussels, and Unit24 Gallery in London, among others. Currently, he is working on an international tour of psychoacoustic sound installation taking place in natural settings. Marek Wolynski
OLGA GROTOVA is an artist based in London. Her practice intersects personal, political and metaphysical subjects in paintings, videos, and performances. In Grotova’s work the political past becomes a fiction and is explored as a force in which memory is dominated by oblivion and interrupted by a constant occurrence of deja-vu. Her works expose the gradual breakdown of the false sense of continuity of historical references, painterly marks and artistic gestures.
Grotova graduated from the Royal College of Art in 2016 and has exhibited in the UK and internationally. Recent exhibitions include Centrala Space (Birmingham), Osnova gallery (Moscow), The Coventry Biennial and Mimosa House (London).
Contemporary Lynx is an independent magazine on art, design, photography and art collecting, with a focus on Eastern European art. With specially commissioned artwork, bespoke cover and a specific theme, it includes interviews with key figures in the art world and a range of insightful essays that debate current trends in visual culture. Published twice a year. Visit www.contemporarylynx.co.uk
Centrala Art Space is a multifunctional art space in Birmingham run by the Polish Expats Association, a non-profit organisation presenting art from Central and Eastern Europe and the UK. The aim of the gallery is to create an inspirational place and platform for building social ties. https://centrala-space.org.uk/
