Don't Mind Control #2 - Outdoor Socially Distanced Improvised Music
Thinking/Not Thinking and A M O K and Centrala return with the second instalment of Don't Mind Control - their co-curated concert series of improvised music in an outdoor socially distanced setting. If you ever wondered what Page Hamilton, Jennifer Walshe, Suzanne Ciani, Weasel Walter and 80s era Miles Davis might sound like playing together, then this is probably the event for you.
While predominantly a celebration of Midlands based improvisers, we will occasionally be branching out to include guests from other regions and musicians we want an excuse to bring over to play for/with us. This one is really stacked and features Sarah Farmer, Marcus Perks, Karensa Cannan, Riadh Lastname and Maya-Leigh Rosenwasser. Like with the last gig, this second one will be an early evening show and again takes place outside of Centrala next to the lovely Grand Union Canal.
Our socialist-style ticketing system also went down well so we'll be implementing it again. This includes different price ranges, set at £0, £3, £5, £7 and £10. This means that we don't have to turn anyone away due to lack of funds (especially during this tough period) yet can also enable those who have the means and wish to offer more support to the Midlands community of creative musicians the chance to do so too. All the money gets shared between the performers. We will also need consent for keeping your details to comply with track and trace guidelines. Your data, however, will only be used for this (however, if you wish to join either the Thinking/Not Thinking or AMOK mailing lists, there will be an option to do so to keep up with things both of us will be planning outside of DMC). That's why it's important to register for tickets via Eventbrite for tickets, even if you are unable to pay, in order to comply. The first event sold out so if you book and cannot attend the event please tell us so we can contact the waiting list.
We might even be announcing a third instalment really shortly so keep your eyes peeled for that too. Please note that this will be an early evening show with doors opening at 6 and first act on at 6.30. We will be employing socially distance guidelines and anyone not complying will be asked to leave. We will, again, be limiting places to 40 to help with social distancing and the bar will be operating on a one-in one-out system.
We can't wait to see y'all again! Let's Rock!
