Celebrating Sanctuary presents: Didier Kisala

Join us as we venture back to live performances to celebrate Refugee Week 2021. The theme is “We Cannot Walk Alone” and its a call for people from different backgrounds and causes to stand together to show support.

 

Our first performance is by a local favourite, Didider Kisala, and will be a live intimate performance outdside by the canal. This is a free event, but please note that Booking is Essential as seating will be limited due to Covid restrictions.

 

Didier Kisala - singer / songwriter and founder member of Birmingham based Congolese band The Redeemed. Didier united young musicians who were passionate about music to create something different which reflected their heritage and a broad range of influences including Rumba, Sebene, Zouk, Jazz, Gospel and more. Alongside The Redeemed, Didier also performs with smaller ensembles, creating a beautiful and soulful performance. A regular contributor to Celebrating Sanctuary events, and collaborations include "The Froe", "Culture Dub Orchestra" and ground-breaking concept album “The Long Road”, involving some of the UK’s top musicians and internationally acclaimed artists such as Robert Plant.

Celebrating Sanctuary Birmingham (CSB)

CSB is a diverse music and arts organisation with a mission to support, develop and celebrate refugee and migrant artists, and to engage through community projects with refugees and asylum seekers. Formed in 2002, CSB delivers 3 strands of work: World Music Events & Refugee Week Festival; Artist Development with refugee and migrant artists; Community Engagement with refugees and asylum seekers. This event is a partnership with Centrala in support of Refugee Week, to celebrate the contribution and resilience of refugees.
