Centrala’s partnership with Reimagine Redditch began in early 2024 and continues to evolve into a dynamic, community-led cultural programme supporting Central and Eastern European (CEE) migrants in Redditch.

The partnership emerged from a shared recognition of the underrepresentation of CEE cultures in public life across the UK, despite CEE communities being one of the largest migrant groups, and Polish now the second most spoken language nationwide. The arrival of Ukrainian refugees further highlighted the urgent need for inclusive, culturally responsive spaces.

Together, Centrala and Reimagine Redditch are addressing this need through tailored artistic activity, community-building, and long-term engagement.

Centrala has brought over a decade of experience in delivering culturally engaged programmes with CEE communities to Redditch. Our deep understanding of migration, lived experience, and cultural practice provided a solid foundation for inclusive participation. In areas where language barriers, perceived hostility, and social isolation often exclude migrants from arts and culture, our approach has helped build confidence, connection, and cultural pride.

Redditch is home to a significant CEE population and already had active local Ukrainian cultural groups. Drawing on this existing engagement, the programme was designed to include a combination of community events and women-focused workshops that celebrated heritage while encouraging new creative expression.
