DIGEBTH FIRST FRIDAY & LUCY MCLAUCHLAN’S ZINE LAUNCH/CLOSING PARTY

Don’t forget – on July 7 it’s Digbeth First Friday! Centrala happily presents Lucy McLauchlan’s zine documenting her project ‘Birmingham by pass’ consisting of art works along the city’s canals, highways and byways. You can check out their exact locations on the updated map here!

The Brummie artist’s residency at Centrala stretched from June 9th to July 8th and is about to come to an end. Her signature large-scale monochromatic paintings with an occasional bright pop of colour not only now cover Birmingham’s more unapparent walls. Lucy decorated multi-story buildings across Europe, gigantic billboards in China, windows in Japan, huts in The Gambia, Italian water towers, a Norwegian lighthouse, Detroit car parks and abandoned NYC subway tunnels. When creating, she tends to take inspiration from her immediate surroundings and this way integrating her works into nature.

An installation by the artist resulting from her days spent along Digbeth’s waterways and streets awaits you at Centrala. Enjoy it whilst drinking our speciality cocktails and craft beer and dance to the DJ sets starting from 8pm.
